Stain solutions
Foundation, lipstick, mascara, and concealer can look intimidating on fabric—but gentle, prompt treatment gives you the best chance of lifting the mark.
1. Check the care label first
Before treating the stain, check the garment’s care label. Delicate fabrics such as silk, wool, and dry-clean-only items may need professional care.
2. Lift off excess product
Use the edge of a spoon or a blunt card to carefully lift excess makeup. Avoid rubbing, which can push the product deeper into the fibres.
3. Treat gently from the back
Place the stained area face-down on a clean cloth. Dab a small amount of suitable laundry detergent onto the reverse side, then rinse with cool water.
4. Wash only after checking
Wash according to the care label, but check the stain before using heat. Dryer heat can make leftover makeup marks much harder to remove.
Always test a product on a hidden area first. Do not mix cleaning products or use bleach unless the care label specifically allows it.
