Carpet & rug care
Wool rugs are durable, beautiful, and naturally resilient—but they benefit from gentle, regular care instead of aggressive cleaning.
1. Vacuum gently and regularly
Vacuum according to the rug maker’s care advice. Avoid overly aggressive brush settings, especially on delicate, handwoven, or fringed rugs.
2. Treat spills immediately
Blot fresh spills with a clean, dry cloth. Work from the outer edge toward the centre and do not rub the fibres.
3. Use as little moisture as possible
Wool can hold moisture, so avoid soaking it. Test any suitable wool-safe cleaner on a hidden area before treating a visible stain.
4. Rotate the rug occasionally
Rotating your rug helps spread foot traffic and sunlight exposure more evenly, reducing uneven fading and wear.
For antique, handmade, heavily soiled, or delicate wool rugs, professional rug cleaning is usually the safest choice.
